AboutThis class is designed specifically for those with fat bodies taught by a teacher in a fat body. It offers the fundamentals of yoga postures, breath and meditation. Each class promotes moving with your breath, and with your body in a way that feels good for YOU! Working through each posture so that the pose meets you where you are. These classes are gentle and build over the session.

I am passionate in my desire to bring yoga to those those who don’t feel they are the right shape or size for yoga. I believe the benefits of connecting the mind, body, and heart through yoga helps us to achieve a deeper appreciation for our bodies as they are, and guides us to take up space in the world. Yoga helps me to let my light shine bright in a world that wants me to be small, - and I want that for you too! Big, bright shining lights! Learning to be more mindful in our daily lives, diving deeper into our understanding of self, and recognizing the beauty and strength is just the gravy that comes with the practice!

What's in a name?
When I first starting teaching yoga, I didn't know what to call the class. It was long ago enough that when I would throw out suggestions to friends, other yoga teachers they would cringe if I said things like "fat yoga", we just weren't there yet, even in fat positive spaces. Thinking more about who I wanted in my class I knew I wanted to elicit a feeling of community for people in fat bodies, and make sure they knew this class was for them and their friends. Yoga for Every Body was born. At first I thought the name would change at some point, instead it stuck and became more meaningful. Fast forward 10 years and the name has even more meaning to me and the class I teach. All are welcome, but you'll have to leave your fatphobia, racism, homophobia, transphobia, abilism and diet talk at the door. |
